Mid-life crisis?

I am not sure what is going on, but have been very depressed of late. The ex staying at my place for close to a month is no help, either. He is aimless, lost and totally not action-oriented. He celebrated his birthday today which makes him a mid 30s man and is still trying to figure out what to do with his life. I have tried to help by being there, lending a sympathetic ear, offering ideas, food and shelter. I feel drained and wasted.
