6 feet under part 1

When I found you you were six feet
under near the running creek still
running from the demons that chased
you all your life and still do as there is
no rest for you even now as you rest
six feet under

Balloon gone flat

Sad to think that this balloon has gone
flat from the sight of your gravesite when
just a short time ago it was buoyant

Memorial Day

What is this laying of flowers on you
but an observance of the reality that you
did exist ever so briefly in my life as you
no longer do as you
have returned to being you

Write

The pain gets written to ease the pain
with each stroke of the key to happiness

Think

To think the unthinkable is to drive
a dagger slowly but surely into one's
soul searching for answers that come
undone

I go searching

for answers to questions unasked
and hear echoes of answers not given

Why do I love?

Why do I love but to love you?
Why do I hurt but to hurt you?
Why do I need but to need you?
Why do I want but to want you?
Why do I see but to see you?

You came looking

for me and didn't find me I went
looking for you and did; were you
any less loving?

He resembles you

Why is it that always I find someone who
is a mirror of you as I remember you

Where did you go and why?

I see your name on the marker with the missing
middle initial how typical missing like you had been
from my life for so many decades and yet only since
yesterday

Nobody gives

a damn about how I might be
tonight, tomorrow or the day
after life it's never ending

6 feet under

When I found you you were running still
near the running creek from the demons
that have chased you for your whole life
as you lay there 6 feet under
